how to update iphone 3GS/ 3G baseband to 06.15.00 using pwnage tool

Update-
Please note that since apple doesn't sign older iOS softwares, so please makes sure that you use the latest software for the jailbreaking or unlocking of yoursoftware.
for eg- in this post I have mentioned ios 4.2.1, but in actual this software cant be used to jailbreak or restore your iDevice as apple is not signing any other iOS except iOS 5.1
so use 5.1 instead of the version mentioned here.
Rest all process remains same.

for udating your baseband on 3g or 3gs, you can't use quickpwn, so for this you need to use 
sn0wbreeze ant that too on windows.

1. There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple. You’ll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.
2. If some future baseband comes out with a critical fix, you won’t be able to update to it if it remains down in the 05.xx sequence (then again, you wouldn’t update to it if you wanted to keep your unlock anyway).
3. Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail).  You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs (then again, if you’re unlocker you should already be doing that).

1- Download pwnage tool 4.1.3  for mac or windows  from this previous post here

2-download ios 4.1 or 4.2.1 as per your current version

3- download ipad 3.2.2 ipsw from this blog post

launch pwnage and select your device, go to expert mode and select the ipsw firmware  as told in step-2

4- read the waring and understand it which comes when you press next as you will be voiding all the warranties once you update to ipad firmware.

5-next browse for ipad firm ware as download 

it will club the baseband and then let the pwnage tool build the custom firmware and place it on the desktop.

6- get your phone in DFU mode as told by the pwnage tool

7- restore with itunes with the custom firmware placed on ur desktop. Clik Restore while pression option on your keyboard.

when restore completes

 1. Launch Cydia and go to the ‘Manage’ tab.
2. Tap ‘Sources’.
3. Tap ‘Edit’ at top right and then ‘Add’ at top left.
4. Enter ‘http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com‘ and tap ‘Add Source’.
5. After Cydia downloads the packages and completes updation of it’s sources, search for ‘Ultrasn0w’.

after your phone starts you should be able to use any SIM

unable to load network list

hi friends...
i f you are reading this post then you must have got your iphone unlocked after uprgadin it to higher version...
so the first thing that you need to know is that ... there is unlock available for the all the ios versions.
except that its not working on some of the basebands.

the latest ultrasn0w unlock is not working on basebands from 05.14.02 and higher even though its said that they are unlockin but many of us are getting "unable to load network list"

so the only solution is to upgrade your baseband from 05.14.02 , 05.15.04 and others to 06.15.00
this is an ipad baseband and is able to unlock your iphone.
if you depend only on carrier unlock then you have to do it
so for unlock u need ultrasn0w 1.2 from repo666.ultrasn0w.com

to upgrade you baseband do the follwing.....

Download Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 for windows

Download Redsn0w for mac

There’s an error in the bundle for the iPhone3GS 4.1 that prevents the new baseband from being used.  If you know your way around OSX, please download the fixed bundle, and unzip it if Safari hasn’t already done so.  Then “Show Package Contents” of PwnageTool.app, navigate to Contents->Resources->FirmwareBundles and drop it there.   Otherwise, please wait for the updated PwnageTool, or the OSX version of redsn0w coming soon.

This PwnageTool also contains a 4.2.1 bundle for iPhone3G owners…for all else, it’s still only 4.1.   If you have an iPhone3GS with an old bootrom, use redsn0w for an untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak (it can now install the iPad baseband too).  For all other devices, the 4.2.1 jailbreak is tethered only (use redsn0w for it), until @comex can work some untethering magic.
